My name is David Richards. I have been studying business for some years and earned a degree in accounting. Though, the subject can be dry – it doesn’t mean the person has to be (please comment if my posts are proving otherwise). To be honest, my interests run far and wide. You could probably mention any subject and I might have given it some time. From string theory to raw dieting, I’ve learned a few things. I’m no expert, but I try to become more of a general savant.

When I can, I try to keep up to date on my favorite topics – economics, politics, and technology. These subjects form our way of life. As I became a more aware citizen, I realized that freedom isn’t free and facts aren’t always facts. As our founding fathers encouraged us, we should distrust government and cast a critical eye at leaders. When we become complacent, freedom is slowly dragged away.

In case you hadn’t noticed from my posts – I am more of an independent or libertarian. I believe very strongly in limited government and in greater personal freedom. I love entrepreneurship and I think people who bash on capitalism have no clue how its formed their life or how it works. You can read more in my ode to capitalism page. I have lived in post communistic countries and despise the oppression it imposes on people. I vow to work as hard as I can to never let that happen in the United States. I hope my posts and pages can help clarify current abuses of power, the power of innovation and entrepreneurship, and the power of free markets.

As the About page described, inlightus was a name inspired by the age of enlightenment, which brought things to light and enlightened the intellect. My goal is to inlighten the reader and continue to be inlightened myself – so please comment, correct, criticize, or confirm any of the information in my posts.
